This new urban development corporation has been set up by the government to help secure the regeneration of parts of six London Boroughs in East London on the north side of the River. In Newham the LTGDC's area includes parts of East Beckton, Canning Town and the Lea Valley including the area to the west of Silvertown Way and south of the North Woolwich Road - the so-called Riverside Industrial Belt - but only as far as the Thames Barrier Park. The Royal Docks Management Authority (RODMA) maintains the dock water areas, ensuring good water quality, and the marine infrastructure, including two locks, a large pumping station and a number of bridges including the Royal Victoria Dock footbridge linking Britannia Village with the north side of the dock.
